When you want the experience of Brazilian barbecue, Zurich offers a delightful duo of options that meat lovers and fans of Brazilian cuisine should not miss.
Boinabrasa and Brasil Grill, both located conveniently near Zurich, beckon diners with the promise of an authentic churrasco experience.
From the perfectly grilled meats to the vibrant, community-centric atmosphere, these establishments bring the essence of Brazil’s culinary traditions.
These are two places I can recommend to anyone looking for an authentic “Restaurante Brasileiro” in Zurich.
Here is how to Churrasco in Zurich :-).
Brasil Grill
I enjoyed dining at Brasil Grill a few months ago, a restaurant that prides itself on offering a cozy atmosphere paired with traditional Brazilian delicacies. Brasil Grill is in Wangen Brüttisellen a few minutes or a quick train ride from Zurich.
The ethos of Brazil—loving and living the good life through food and a cheerful lifestyle—permeates the space.
Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the staff, including an Argentinean waiter whose friendliness truly elevated the experience. The establishment wasn’t crowded when I arrived, which initially raised an eyebrow, but any skepticism was quickly put to rest.
Opting for the all-you-can-eat option, priced at 59 CHF, I explored the buffet and found various fresh options at the salad bar. The meat, however, is the star of the show here. The picanha, in particular, was exceptional and grilled to perfection, just as promised by the kitchen led by Andreas Littig.
The servings were generous and came in stages, ensuring everything was hot and freshly prepared.
The evening progressed, and the restaurant filled up, showcasing its popularity among locals. While there was a slight hiccup with the timing of the meat service, the attentive staff quickly rectified it. A live music performance added to the atmosphere, though the tuning could have used a bit of fine-tuning.
Overall, my experience at Brasil Grill was positive. The food was tasty, and the ambiance was inviting and true to its Brazilian roots. If you’re in the area and appreciate meat dishes and an uncomplicated, hearty meal, I’d recommend giving Brasil Grill a try.
Boinabrasa Brazilian Restaurant
Not quite in Zurich itself, but in Dielsdorf, Boinabrasa Restaurante Brasileiro is a delightful culinary gem that invites you on a gastronomic journey straight to the vibrant flavors of Brazil.
Boinabrasa opened in 2013. The Brazilian bbq restaurant is a charming eatery that perfectly marries the authenticity of traditional Brazilian churrasco grilling with the warmth of Swiss hospitality. Boinabrasa, with its inviting terrace during the summer, provides a unique community experience where sharing food takes center stage, creating a sense of togetherness among diners.
From the moment you step in, the tantalizing aroma of meats sizzling on large skewers greets you as skilled Churrasqueiros meticulously grill an array of juicy beef, lamb, pork, and chicken, just as the gauchos did in the 19th century. The phrase “Boi na brasa!”, translating to “The bull is over the embers!”, perfectly encapsulates the anticipation and excitement that fills the air. But it’s not just for the carnivores; a colorful buffet of hot and cold side dishes ensures that vegetarians too can partake in this Brazilian feast.
Despite its somewhat unexpected location in an industrial park, Boinabrasa has managed to carve a niche, receiving praise for its perfectly cooked meats, friendly staff, and generous buffet offerings. Some reviewers do mention the occasional hiccup with service for larger groups, but the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and delight at finding a slice of Brazil in Zurich. So, if you’re in the mood for an all-you-can-eat experience that transports you straight to the heart of South America, Boinabrasa awaits with open arms and skewers aplenty.
If you are generally fond of South American food, check out my favorite Mexican restaurants in Zurich, too :-).
