Japanese Restaurant in Zurich

Zurich’s best Japanese Restaurants

The Best of Japanese Cuisine in Zurich:

We ate around the world so far in our culinary travels of zurich. Now it’s time to embark on another journey of taste and explore its Japanese restaurants.
Zürich does also have some amazing Tempura, Teppanyaki, Sushi and atmosphere.
Here are my three favorite japanese restaurants in Zurich. Kokoro, Yen’s and Fujiya.

Kokoro: The Heartbeat of Zurich’s Japanese Scene

Kokoro is by far my favorite Japanese Restaurant in Zurich, it’s not too pricey, super friendly and central. Couldn’t recommend it more, the Sushi Sashimi and the Fried Chicken are great first tastes. It’s just a jump from Zurich’s central train station (HB). Kokoro,  the name, which translates to “heart” in Japanese, couldn’t be more apt. This place truly is the heart of Japanese cuisine in Zurich.

  • Atmosphere: The modern, chic vibe of Kokoro is immediately inviting. While the indoor seating can feel a tad cozy, it only adds to the intimate dining experience. But if you’re someone who enjoys the gentle caress of the Zurich breeze, their outdoor terrace is a delightful spot.
  • Must-Try Dishes: The Salmon and Tuna Sushi and Sashimi Plate is a harmonious blend of flavors that’ll transport you straight to the streets of Osaka. The Chicken Katsu Rolls are a crunchy, savory treat that’s a testament to the chef’s prowess. And let’s not forget their Tempura, which has gained quite the reputation among locals and travelers alike.
  • Pocket Pinch: With prices averaging around 30-40 CHF per person, it’s a steal for the quality of food and ambiance on offer.

Yen’s: Where Tradition Meets Modernity

As I ambled along the banks of the Sihl River, I chanced upon Yen’s by Hallwylplatz. The juxtaposition of its modern interiors with traditional Japanese culinary techniques is a sight to behold.
My favorite thing about Yen’s must be the owners, they make you feel so welcome it really can’t become anything else but a great experience.

  • Atmosphere: The spaciousness of Yen’s is a refreshing change. But what truly captivated me was the warmth of the owners. Their infectious energy and humor permeate the entire dining experience, making you feel right at home.
  • Must-Try Dishes: The Sushi Sashimi Deluxe is a symphony of flavors, each note perfectly tuned. But the showstopper? The Duck Sa-Cha. It’s a dish that’s as visually stunning as it is delectable.
  • Pocket Pinch: While you can enjoy a sumptuous meal for around 30-40 CHF, if you decide to indulge in their full course menu, be prepared to spend a tad more. And believe me, it’s worth every penny.

Fujiya of Japan: A Culinary Oasis

Fujiya of Japan is a great upscale experience for those who love to experience live cooking. A note of caution is that if you plan to go there for a quick bite, its not in the city center, but in Opfikon and it could take a little while to get there depending on the traffic.
Anyhow, I love it and have been there a few times already, its an awesome experience with friends and I’d recommend the evenings where you can really take your time.

First time I got there, from the moment I stepped in, I knew I was in for a treat. This isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a authentic Japanese experience.

  • Atmosphere: The opulent interiors exude luxury, and the outdoor spaces offer a serene dining environment. It might be a tad away from the hustle and bustle, but the journey is a small price to pay for the treasures that await.
  • Service: The staff at Fujiya of Japan truly elevates the dining experience. They’re attentive without being intrusive, regularly checking in to ensure you’re well taken care of and that nothing is amiss.
  • Must-Try Dishes: The Teppanyaki Menu is a masterclass in Japanese cooking. Each dish, meticulously crafted by their skilled chefs, is a testament to the art of Teppanyaki. And their Sushi and Sashimi? Simply divine.
  • Pocket Pinch: This is a place where you come to pamper your taste buds, and with prices often exceeding 100 CHF per person, it’s a luxurious treat that’s worth splurging on.!

Fujiya is pretty awesome, definitely worth checking out if you find yourself near Tessinerplatz.
